School History

History of St Margaret’s CE Primary School

St. Margaret’s School was founded in 1885 as a Church of England school to serve the children of the parish on a site adjacent to the railway line, now occupied by houses. From its beginning as a small village school it has grown to a school catering for children aged between three and eleven years. The school began moving to its present site in 1960 with the opening of the infant wing.

In 2018, St Margaret’s became part of BDMAT and now has 233 pupils on role from 3 – 11. A number of these pupils come from different religious backgrounds with Christian, Hindu, Sikh and Muslim children represented within our school.
