Curriculum
At St Margaret’s, we believe that every child should receive a broad and balanced curriculum that challenges and allows them to experience and understand success, thriving in something that they love. We strive for excellence, aiming to develop children who are intrinsically motivated, curious, resilient and independent. Our desire is for them to be a responsible member of society, living out the Christian values, understanding their place and contribution to the world. Their experience here should ultimately prepare them to for life in an ever-changing world.
Our curriculum design is expected to lead to the following outcomes for children leaving our school:
- Children enjoy learning, being keen to explore and express, to discuss
and discover, to question and to wonder; - Children are happy, confident individuals who understand mistakes are
good, being able to learn from them and overcome failure; - Children develop socially and morally, understanding how society holds
together through exploring themes such as sustainability and diversity
and are able to become contributing citizens; - Children develop personally to be emotionally and physically heathy,
understanding risk and how to be safe; - Children understand the part that theirs and other people’s beliefs play
in their lives; - Children achieve well, meeting and exceeding national expectations
and/ or personalised goals; - Children make at least expected progress from their starting points with
the aim for many to be good or better; - Children’s behaviour is good or better
- School attendance is better than average for primary schools.

At St Margaret’s, we respect the individual beliefs and values of our families. We recognize that parents have a legal right to withdraw their children from religious education (RE) lessons if they wish to do so.
If you decide to exercise this right, please inform us in writing, and we will arrange for your child to be appropriately supervised during these times. While we do not provide additional teaching during these periods, we ensure that all students are engaged in meaningful educational activities.
For further information or to discuss alternative arrangements for RE, please contact the school administration.
